Texas Photo Festival

The Texas Photo Festival was October 8, 2016 in Smithville, Texas.  It was my first opportunity to attend this event and I heard about it through the Austin Photography Group.   It was an amazing opportunity and I really had a fantastic time.  The main street in town was closed off from traffic to recreate an earlier Western scene filled with Props and characters from the old West.  There were models and some characters in celebration of Halloween as well.  Throughout the day there were photography sessions presented by various professional photographers in the area.  Along with these festivities local bands were performing in the Atrium nearby.

I have to say I have never experienced any event like this before and plan to include the date on my calendar for the years to come.   Smithville, Texas  is a beautiful town with friendly and courteous folks that really made this an experience to remember and I look forward to upcoming events.  The city is also known for being selected as the town for a number of movies like Hope Floats.   The architecture around the town is very nice and they have a beautiful Veterans Memorial and other sites around town that are to be admired.  It is a short distance East of Austin and well worth the drive.   For more info, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smithville,_Texas.  I highly recommend this event if you are in Texas next year about this time.
