I noticed this gentleman and his bird at the motorcycle rally. He was having a conversation with some friends and I could not help but walk up and ask him about this beautiful bird. It is a Eclectus roratus parrot from the Solomon Islands. She is 6 months old and has 100 miles of motorcycle riding. The man talked about this beauty and the one that he had before. His stories were great and I could see it was a bond to not be unbroken between the gentleman and his beautiful bird.

I noticed some beautifully carved works of art while walking around the vendor tents at the Austin Republic of Texas Rally. As I walked closer I could see the artist at work, her name is Kelly Boyd. I introduced myself and before long we were talking about the art of woodcarving. I asked her about her collection and she explained various pieces and shared stories. I admired one piece in particular in which she wood burned a portrait of her daughter and on the back of the wood, many years later, she wood burned her daughter when she was older. I could see the affection and loved instilled into the wood.

The baby Egrets are starting to appear in Taylor, Texas. I am amazed how fast they grow and mature. These are a series of captures that I have taken recently mostly using my spotting scope and 2x on my camera and hand holding the camera to the scope as well as a few with my telephoto and a 1.4x Converter. The resolution of the spotting scope may not be as clear as my telephoto, but it allowed me to zoom a little closer to the nests in the trees on the small island.

Today I stopped at Murphy Park in Taylor Texas to admire the nesting Egrets in the island of the small lake. I noticed one Egret doing a mating dance and I tried to take a short video. I am new to video processing and this is an attempt to capture the beauty and grace of this beautiful bird performing a mating dance. I limited the video to roughly 42 seconds. I hope you enjoy and thank you for taking a moment to view my captures.

I like to find opportunities to shoot and explore. On this day I was heading to a park at lunch to take some captures with my 200-400 lens. When I turned into the road to the park I noticed the Mighty Thomas Carnival setting up their rides and exhibits (http://www.thomascarnival.com). I quickly decided this would be a great chance to observe and admire facets of the carnival. I quickly discovered that my auto focus stopped working on my old lens so fortunately I had my tripod.

It is funny how you can live somewhere for a number of years and yet not see some of its amazing sites. I have done that myself and yesterday decided to see Mount Bonnell which is a popular destination in Austin to view the cityscape and surrounding area. It is considered the highest location in Austin at 780 feet above mean sea level. Not very high, but has spectacular views. I need to come back to admire this view again.

It is great to see parents enjoying time with their families. With all of the high tech gadgets, it seems too easy to miss the real opportunities to connect with our families and have memories that last a life time. Cheers to Moms and Dads for taking time to teach, to embrace, to enjoy moments with their little ones (or any age for that matter).
